U12 max frequency for digital pulses

I am trying to send digital pulses to a stepper motor using a simple loop: for i in range(numstep): d.eDigitalOut(1,1) d.eDigitalOut(1,0) but the highest frequency I can get is 31 Hz. Anyone have an idea as to why this is so?

The predicted limit for 2 command/response calls in a loop is 25 iterations/second, so you are actually getting great speed:

You can go twice as fast if you do your 2 DOs in a single command (such as AOUpdate or DigitalIO). To go faster than that, you need to move to a newer device:
