Hi,

I have a U3 & LJtick-In amp. I have a K-Type thermocouple hooked up to it.

I have it's channel set to A to D.

I can't get it to work. The error I get is:

D0050:00:0016 LabJack Device #0 error: Request made on pin not properly configured for analog/digital.

Any ideas?

cheers
Jamie

You can learn a little more about configuring lines as analog or digital in Section 4.3.2 of the U3 User's Guide, but the thing as that for a while now DF has done that configuration automatically. Make sure your firmware and UD driver are up to date, and from Azeotech make sure your DF or DFE is up to date.

One other comment is that I would do initial testing in the test panel in LJControlPanel, to avoid software confusion at the start.

Not related to this error, but make sure you have a jumper or resistor to ground as discussed in the LJTIA datasheet. That is a common mistake when connecting a T/C.

How do I test using the LJ control center?

I run a couple of temp sensors already and never had to go near the LJ control center.

I have my Amp & TC in EI02 - channel 10. When I go to the LJ center do I tick Analogue for this port?

Then how do I check?

cheers

Yes, if you want to use EIO2 as an analog input, click the radio button in the AIN column in the test panel in LJControlPanel.

Here is more LJTIA thermocouple troubleshooting info:

Hi There,

Thanks for that. I have the Thermocouple and Amp working now. The 10k resistor to ground done the trick.

The values I'm getting are not correct though.

I'm using Daqfactory express (I've posted there already but the guy is not very familiar with the LJTick-InAmp).

When I set the Gain to 11 and the conversion to: typek(value/11,22) I get a value of 796 (ish).

When I set the Gain to 51 and the conversion to: typek(value/51,22) I get a value of 210 (ish).

When I set the Gain to 201 and the conversion to: typek(value/201,22) I get a value of 66 (ish).

Any idea where I'm going wrong ?
cheers

The first thing to do is figure out if the voltage is wrong, or your conversion is wrong. Best way to do that is look at the voltages and use the thermocouple tables to see what voltage you expect. See the later part of troubleshooting section:

I would also check out the DFE example "Thermocouple LJTIA U3.ctl":

The example file is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks a lot!
